How tokens work

Tokens are the simple currency that keeps your galleries online. Here's how you get them, buy more, and where they go.

What is a token?

Every N5 Galleries account has a token balance. Your galleries draw from it each month, and it lets you keep creating and editing. You can see your balance, and every credit and charge, on the Tokens page in your dashboard.

How you earn tokens

  • Complimentary tokens on sign-up. Every new account starts with 50 tokens, with no credit card required.
  • Refer a friend. Invite a friend from Refer a friend. You earn 10 tokens when they join within 30 days (they get a 10-token bonus on top of their Starter Pack), and you each earn 10 more when they buy their first tokens within 90 days.
  • Gifts and promotions. From time to time we add bonus tokens to an account. Any gift appears in your history labelled "Gift", with a note.

How you purchase tokens

Need more? Buy a token pack from the Tokens page in your dashboard. Payment is handled securely by Stripe, and the tokens are added to your balance right after payment.

  • 100 tokens — $10.00
  • 200 tokens — $20.00
  • 500 tokens — $40.00
  • Invoices and receipts are available for every purchase, to view, download, or email to yourself.
  • Auto-refill (optional). Choose a pack and we'll buy it automatically whenever your balance reaches 0, so your galleries never go offline.

How tokens are consumed

Tokens are used once a month, for each gallery you have:

  • Monthly gallery charge: 10 tokens per gallery, per calendar month. Every gallery that existed during the month is charged, with no proration.
  • Storage: each gallery includes 50 MB of photos. For every additional 50 MB (or part of it) beyond that, add 5 tokens to that gallery's charge.

Charges are calculated on the 1st of each month for the month just ended. You get a monthly statement with a per-gallery breakdown on your Tokens page, which you can also download or email to yourself. Creating galleries, adding photos, and sharing links don't cost tokens on their own.

If your balance reaches zero

  • Your galleries become inactive: you can't create or edit galleries, sections, or photos until you top up.
  • Your galleries and shared links stay viewable by other people for a grace period of 45 days, then stop being viewable until your balance is above zero.
  • You can always sign in, review your galleries, and back them up, even at zero.
  • After 60 days at zero, galleries are marked for deletion and may then be permanently deleted, with their photos and share links. We email you 30 and 7 days before.

Add tokens within 60 days and everything comes straight back.

Refunds and dormant accounts

  • Tokens are non-refundable. Once purchased (including by auto-refill), tokens can't be refunded or exchanged for cash.
  • If your account has no token purchase or use for 120 days (monthly gallery charges count as use), it becomes dormant: any remaining tokens are forfeited and remaining galleries may be deleted. We email you 30 and 7 days before.
